4279 HO EMD GP20 - Sound and DCC Union Pacific
This Broadway Limited EMD GP20 diesel locomotive is based on the popular 2,000 horsepower diesels used across North America beginning in the early 1960s. Two prominent features of the original GP20s are dynamic brakes and a low, short hood that tapers away from the front of the cab. Between November of 1959 and April 1962, EMD produced 260 of these locomotives, which were originally sold to eight US railroads. GP20s made their way to many railroads, and several are still operating today on short lines in the US. This model has full Paragon4 sound and DCC for realistic, reliable sound and motor control. The Paragon4 sound system works with all Broadway Limited Rolling Thunder(TM) advanced sound systems. Other features include a smooth-running flywheel-equipped drive, roadname-appropriate detailing and magnetic knuckle couplers. The EMD GP20 can be operated on all DCC systems as well as on standard DC railroads (with limited sound functionality). This model has wheels profiled to operate on Code 70 and larger rail and curves of 18" radius but larger curves are recommended.
