The Mikojan-Guriewicz MIG-25 (NATO: Foxbat) is a Soviet twin-engine supersonic interceptor and reconnaissance aircraft in the high wing configuration. The flight of this powerful aircraft took place on March 6, 1964 under the designation E-155. The main task of the MIG 25 was to intercept and destroy new American strategic bombers that met the requirements of the WS-110A from 1956. As part of this program, a prototype of the XB-70 bomber was created, but it did not enter mass production. Despite this, the Soviet air command created the concept of anti-aircraft defense of the USSR based on long-range surface-to-air missiles and new fighters with a speed of 3Ma. At the turn of 1968-1969, the plane went into mass production. A total of 1190 MiG-25s were produced - the MiG-25 P fighter and the MiG-25 R reconnaissance bomber, in several versions until the end of production in 1984. Spoken in the USSR, Algeria, India, Libya, Syria, and in 1971-75 in Egypt. 25 world records were set on the E-266 and E-266M in 1965-76, including altitude 37,650 m, speed 2,980 km / h and climb 25,000 m in 2.5 minutes. Israeli radars once detected a MiG-25 flying at 4,000 km / h (Mach 3.26). The aircraft was powered by powerful Tumanski R-15BD-300 engines with 11,500daN thrust with afterburning. Technical data: length: 23.8m, wingspan: 13.95m, height: 6.1m, maximum speed: 2.82Ma, climb speed: 123m / s, maximum range: 1600km, maximum ceiling 24400m, armament: permanent - no outboard-up to 4 air-to-air missiles of the type: AA-6, AA-7 or AA-11.
